Ham and Split Pea Soup Recipe A Great Soup

                     Ingredients:


  1.2 onion diced

  1 pound dried split peas rinsed

  1 bay leaf

  1.2 cups water

  2 tablespoons butter

  3 cloves garlic sliced

  1 pound ham diced

  1 quart chicken stock

  2 ribs celery diced

  salt and ground black pepper to taste

 


  




                    Directions:


  Step.1

Melt the butter in a large soup pot over medium heat. Add the chopped garlic, celery, and onion. Cook, stirring, until the onion is translucent but not brown, about 6 to 8 minutes.


 Step.2

Add the bay leaf and (pea ham) and stir. Add the water and (chicken stock), stir. Cook until the (peas) are tender and the (soup) has thickened, at least 1 hour and 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season with (pepper) and salt and serve.
