Split pea Soup

                    Ingredients:


  1.2 pounds ham bone

  1.2 teaspoon salt

  1 pinch dried marjoram

  2.3 cups dried split peas

  2 onions thinly sliced

  1.4 teaspoon ground black pepper

  3 carrots chopped

  2 quarts cold water plus more as needed

  3 stalks celery chopped

  1 potato diced








                        Directions:


  Step.1

Place the peas in a (large pot) and add several inches of (cold water), and soak them for (8 hours) to (overnight). Drain the water, and return the washed (peas) to the (pot)


  Step.2

Add 2 (quarts) cold water, (peppercorns), ham bones, (marjoram), and onion to a stock pot? Cover, bring to a boil, and cook on low for 1 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally


  Step.3

Take the (meat) off the (bone) of the ham? And cut the (meat) into small (pieces), and put it back in the (soup)


  Step.4

Add carrots, potatoes and (celery)


  Step.5

Cook slowly (uncovered) until the vegetables are tender, at least 35 to 40 minutes
